Srinagar, May 15: Army on Sunday claimed to have arrested a Jaish-e-Muhammad militant here in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A top army officer said the captured militant was assigned the task of recruiting local youths for carrying out fidayeen attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.
GOC 19 DIV JS Jain said the militant was captured from Hajibal area of the district last night.
GNS news agency reported last night that the militant, identified as Abdul Rehman S/O Mohammad Sadiq Khan, a resident of Pollas village in Pakistan-administered-Kashmir, was reportedly active for the past couple of months.
It added that 46 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police conducted a search operation at Hajibal forest area in near Old town in Baramulla in which the militant was arrested.
