SRINAGAR: Three persons travelling in a private car sustained injuries after army Jawan opened fire on them as they allegedly jumped a check post at a village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday evening.
Police sources said the trio were in a car (JKO2W- 4989) when they were fired from an army naka in the outskirts of Drabgam village.
The soldiers of 44 RR tried to flag down a car at a check post in Drabgam village of the district at around 9 pm last night, said the Official.
“As the man behind the wheels whizzed past the check post, the army men opened fire on the car, causing injuries to three persons,” said the official.
They were identified as as Waqar Ahmad Mir, who has a mandible injury. He has been shifted to SKIMS.
The second injured person was identified as Rafiq Ahmad Dar, and The third injured was identified as Umer Ashraf Wani son of Mohammad Ashraf.
All the three are from Drabgam village in Pulwama.
He said that while Mir received a bullet injury, the other two were wounded by the shreds of smashed window panes. “They have injuries but are stable,” a senior doctor from the district hospital said.
