Army jawan arrested with grenades: Jammu and Kashmir police calls Major Vikram Seth for interrogation

New Delhi: The Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday called Major Vikram Seth for interrogation in the Army jawan Bhupal Mukhia arrest case. According to the reports of leading news channel India Today the Major is currently out of state. He is likely to return today.

Earlier on Monday, the army jawan Bhupal Mukhia who was on his way to Delhi was arrested by police with two live grenades at Srinagar airport. During the interrogation, the soldier claimed that he was carrying the grenades back home in order to cause blasts in rivers to catch fish.

He had alleged that he was told by one ‘Major Sahib’ to take the grenades to Delhi, claims report of leading channel NDTV. The channel quoted a senior police officer as saying, “Jawan claimed he was directed by Major Sahib to carry the grenades to Delhi, where some person would pick up the consignment.”

Apparently, the soldier, a resident of Darjeeling was taken into custody by the anti-hijacking squad after they found two grenades in his baggage. As per the media reports, the jawan has been posted near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, in the Uri sector.
