Army officer among three soldiers injured in ongoing Anantnag Encounter


SRINAGAR: Three soldiers including an army officer were injured in an ongoing encounter with terrorists at Bidoora village in Achabal area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Official sources told that army officer of Major rank namely Rahul Verma along with two other soldiers sustained injuries during the fresh exchange of gunfight at Bidoora, Aknigam.

A police officer also confirmed that three soldiers including the officer suffered injuries during the fresh exchange of gunfight. He said the injured were immediately evacuated to nearby military hospital for treatment.

Official sources said two terrorists were killed and their bodies were recovered.

The officer said that two bodies were found by the joint team at the encounter site during search operation.

He said that investigations are underway to ascertain the identities of the slain.

However, when security forces were searching the area there was fresh firing from terrorists still hiding there.
The operation was still going on when the reports last came in, they added.

Meanwhile, internet mobile service has been suspended as a precautionary measure to prevent spread of rumours.
