ARMY ORGANISES CRICKET TOURNAMENT AT KISHTWAR

Jammu:  10 September 2016 : In a sporting noble initiative the Army  organised a inter Tehsil Cricket tournament from 25 August 2016 to 10 September 2016 at Chogan ground to promote local talent and to provide a platform to the budding players of far flung areas. Shri Gh Nabi Balwan, Deputy Commissioner, Mr Sandeep Wazir, Senior Superintendent of Police and other civil officials also graced the occasion and witnessed the final match between Asrariya and Kishtwar Warriors.

Cricket has been traditionally a popular game of the region followed by people of all ages. 42 teams participated in the competition.  The final match was witnessed by more than 600 villagers including officials from Civil Administration and locals. After a competitive and a hard fought match, the Kishtwar Warriors managed to beat their spirited opponents by 5 wickets.  At the culmination of grand event the chief guest gave away prizes to the winning team to include a cash prize of 10,000 and the runners up a prize of 5,000.

Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar thanked the Army for organising this cricket tournament at Kishtwar which will give a boost to the talented sportsmen as well as will promote a healthy environment in the district
