Jammu: 20 September 2016, Army is organising a driving and maintenance cadre for the youth of villages from Keri, Doongi, Namblan, Niaka and Panjgran in Rajouri district recently for a duration of two weeks starting to make them self reliant, in driving skills. The participants will not only be trained in driving skills and traffic rules but will also be taught about the basic vehicle maintenance and repair aspects.
The endeavour will help the youth in acquiring an additional skill and help them in seeking employment. The initiative by the Army, was not only appreciated by the village elders but was also welcomed by the youth, who saw it as an opportunity, which can help them in enhancing employability in future.
Participants will be given practical tips on repair and maintenance requirements of commercial light vehicles. The youth will also be made aware about various avenues for self employment in the field of driving and maintenance of vehicles. Leaflets and brochures containing relevant information were also distributed on the occasion. The conducting unit will also assist individuals in filling of forms for procuring learning license from RTO office Rajouri.
Shri Raj Kumar, Sarpanch of Keri thanked the Army for this initiative which will provide all the participants an excellent opportunity to learn a new skill through first hand training and thereafter use the same for gaining employment.
