Army organizes afforestation drive in Krishna Ghati
Jammu 14 May: An afforestation drive was organised by Indian Army at village Dhurati in Krishna Ghati by co-opting Forest Department and School children on 13 May 2015. Around 400 saplings were planted. Mr Nadeem Hussain, DFO Poonch commended Sarla Battalion for taking-up the initiative and said that the ‘soldier is the best example of living in harmony with nature’. He also congratulated teachers and children of Govt Middle School Dhurati on planting saplings and exhorted them to nurture them into trees. A lecture on employment oppurtunities in Territorial Army units also called ‘Green Battalions’ which undertake afforestation in different parts of the country, was also held.
Commanding Officer of the Battalion reiterated Army’s commitment to a ‘Swachh and Green Bharat’ on the occasion.
