Army recovers huge cache of arms, ammunition in Sopore


Baramulla, May 12: Based on a specific input from unit source a search operation was launched today by Rashtriya Rifles unit and SOG Rafiabad in general area of Zallura, Sagipura forest about 15 KM from Sopore which resulted in recovery of a huge cache of arms, ammunition and war like stores.

Acting on a specific input from unit source Rashtriya Rifle unit of the area immediately launched a search operation early morning in Sagipura forest.

Concerted search of the area was carried out and at approximately this afternoon a huge cache of arms and ammunition was found under the boulders of a Nallah resulting in recovery of 2 AK 56 rifles, 4 AK 47 rifle, 15 magazines with 756 rounds of AK-47, 3 Chinese pistols, 3 UBGL with 30 UBGL Grenades, 2 Radio sets, 14 Chinese hand grenade, 33 IEDs with circuits, 8 detonators and 7 safety fuzes.

Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen Subrata Saha complimented the alertness of troops who braving the rough terrain, unearthed the war like stores there and denied their use by inimical elements.
