Artificial lake must for promoting tourism in Jammu

By Citizen Journalist: Arjun Singh

The Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has recently hinted about shelving of the artificial lake project which was condemned by the various organisations of Jammu city including social, political organisations.

The Chief Minister termed this project as unfeasible and said that economically and technically it is difficult, where as the Jammu based BJP leaders are saying that the artificial lake project will be completed in a short time, which leaves the city residents in doubt whether the project will be undertaken or nor. The businessmen associated with the tourism department are willing that the artificial lake will be completed soon as it will be an absolute help in Jammu tourism and will surely take the present tourism state to a new height. We have been listening  for the last so many years, that once the artificial lake project on river Tawi is completed, the temperature of the surrounding areas will also decrease by 1-2 degree Celsius which will also provide relief to the people during summers.

Many states of the country are promoting water tourism. In Goa, people are enjoying a lot of water sports which also promotes the tourism. The government will consider to introduce these kind of water sports in Jammu by taking the advice of the experts whether these kind of activities are feasible or not.
