SAMBA SEPTEMBER 17: Intensifying the drive against violators, Motor Vehicle department, Samba realized fine of Rs 1.2 lakh and seized 17 vehicles including 10 trucks and one bus for violation of traffic rules.
A team led by ARTO Samba conducted extensive checking and fined vehicles for plying without proper documents, license, permits, and for other violations under Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.
Two Haryana and Uttaranchal Road Ways buses were heavily compounded by the ARTO for plying without valid permits or counter signatures.
Other 17 vehicles, including 10 trucks and one bus were seized on spot.
ARTO has appealed road users to follow traffic rules, wear seat belts and crash helmets. “Road Safety is shared responsibility of every citizen and each one of us must play our role to ensure road safety”, he said.
Meanwhile, an “Orientation cum Interaction programme” was also organized for Auto-Rickshaw drivers/operators union at New Bus Stand, Samba with regard to installation of fare meters and to ensure fare charging as per notified rates by the government. Auto-Rickshaw drivers were also directed to wear uniform while driving and to ensure that no fleecing of any passenger is done by any operator.
On the occasion, representatives of Auto-Rickshaw operators/drivers union also highlighted their issues before the ARTO, who assured them that all genuine issues shall be placed before concerned quarters for consideration and appropriate action.
