Jammu and Kashmir News
Jammu : As per the notification issued by the Government on Oct 25, 2015, the teachers in all the government schools of the state were barred from giving private tutions.
However, the J&K High Court dismissed the total restriction and stated that the teachers will be allowed to give private tutions at certain fixed time slots. Two hours before and two hours after the working hours of the school will be assigned for the task.
Previously, many teachers from various government schools in the state had challenged the J&K Government’s notice. They mentioned the order from 11 Aug 2005 by the High Court, wherein the teachers were discreetly allowed a period of four hours, two afore and two following the school timings, to privately practice. Later on, the division bench of High Court terminated the order, to which the teachers approached the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court then aborted High Court Division Bench’s decision.
Justice BS Walia of J&K High Court then directed the Board of School Education to the Court’s order into effect immediately.
