Minister of State for Power, Housing & Urban Development and Industries & Commerce, Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Mir today reviewed the functioning of the Power Development Department(PDD) at an officers meeting attended, among others, by the Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers of different wings of the department.
The meeting reviewed the progress of the projects taken up under PMRP scheme in the valley and the availability of funds for completion of ongoing projects.
The Chief Engineers briefed the Minister about the measures taken for ensuring smooth supply of power to the consumers and also raised the issues of dearth of staff needed for maintenance of grid stations. They also demanded posting of fulltime Collector for land acquisition in the department.
The meeting was told that overloading of transformers is the main cause affecting the power supply in the Valley.
The Minister instructed the Chief Engineers to take necessary measures for ensuring smooth transmission of electricity, safety of the grid stations, transmission towers and transformers in the Valley. He also directed them to regulate the power supply in the manner where every habitation can get the electricity as per the schedule fixed by the department.
Chief Engineer M&RE, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Khan and Chief Engineer Systems and Operations, Mr. Sheikh Gul Ayaz were also present on the occasion.
