Only one technician in Jammu to calibrate auto meters leads to fare chaos, commuters suffer

Jammu, October 03: A 72 hours strike has been called on by Jammu Auto Operators’ Union (JAOU) from October 5th to October 8th. The decision has been taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of president of union Kuljit Kumar after an auto driver is allegedly harassed by policemen.


According to Kuljit Kumar, President of JAOU, it has become a habit of police in Jammu to harass poor auto driver on different routes which has now become intolerable and the now the union has decided to protest against it. The president also said that they will also protest against no changing in fares bu government with increase in petrol prices.

He pleaded that the rates fixed by the traffic police Rs 17 per KM is not agreed by us and it should be at least Rs 30 per KM. Also, these the CNG Auto’s plying in Delhi are charging Rs 27 per KM while as the Jammu auto drivers are running their auto on petrol which costs much costlier.
