Autonomous status for CGW Parade by UGC

LONE-4JAMMU : Government College for Women Parade has been conferred autonomous status by the UGC which is a rare distinction, the first amongst the government colleges in the state, this was informed in an function organized here today.
The Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Mohammad Akbar Lone was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion the Minister complimented the staff and students for their dedicated efforts and said that the prime institution has been providing quality education to the students and shaping their personalities making them better citizens
The Minister said that providing adequate infrastructure and modern facilities has been given priority to ensure that the education sector is strengthened.
The Minister also inaugurated the Electronics and Computer lab and also various developmental works in the college.
Ms Hemal Aggarwal, Principal of the College in her welcome address highlighted the various achievements made by the College in different areas. She said that with the dedicated efforts of the staff and students the institution has achieved new milestones in the field of academics and curricular activities.
A cultural programme was also presented by the students including a Sufiana song, Kashmiri Dance, and contemporary dance on the theme of Women Empowerment.
Secretary, Higher Education, Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmed, Municipal Commissioner Jammu, Mr. Kiran Wattal, Director Colleges, Prof T A Kawoos besides Principals of various Degree Colleges, Teachers and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
