Baisakhi mela arrangements discussed at Udhampur


UDHAMPUR – Arrangements to celebrate historic 3-day Baisakhi Mela from April 14, 2014 at the sacred Devika Ghat, Udhampur were discussed at a meeting of District Officers of various departments and prominent citizens under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. Vikas Sharma here today.Baisakhi mela arrangements discussed
Executive Engineers, R&B, PHE & PDD, Deputy Controller Civil Defence, Mr. Bodh Raj,  District Information Officer, Dr. Ashwani Hansa, President Devika Baisakhi Mela Committee, Mr. Surinder Khajuria, District Heads of various department also attended the meeting.
Detailed discussions with regard to the arrangements of security, drinking water and power supply, barricading, First-aid, sanitation, checking of rates etc. were held and directions were issued to district heads of various department to ensure fool-proof arrangements pertaining to their respective department well before the start of the mela.
To check the rates and quality of eatables, a Team has been constituted comprising of Tehsildar (Settlement), Udhampur, Tehsil Supply Officer, Udhampur, SHO and Food Inspector who would ensure that no shopkeeper sells sub-standard eatables during the mela days at Devika ghat.
For the awareness of common masses about the different government sponsored schemes especially designed to ameliorate the socio-economic status of poor people, the departments of Health, Agriculture, Horticulture, Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Sericulture, Handloom and Handicrafts etc. would put up their departmental stalls.
Tehsildar (Settlement & Territorial), Udhampur would be the Mela Officers, the meeting decided.
