With the nine holy days of Durga Ma commonly called as Navrati starting from today, Bawe Wali Mata popular as the presiding Goddess of Jammu is all set to celebrate Navratri.
Besides every Tuesdays and Sundays, it is for these nine days heavy rush of devotees is seen in the temple. Every single person in Jammu visits Bawe Wali Mata during Navratri. People start thronging from 3 am in the morning and till late in the evening continue to visit the shrine and offer prayers amid Vedic chants.
For Navratri, the entire temple complex has been decorated with flowers and lights for the nine-day-long festivities dedicated to different incarnations of goddess Durga.
Meanwhile, members of civil defence have been activated to provide necessary help to the devotees and maintain order during the festivities. The civil administration has made proper arrangements and has provided special attention to welfare of people who would visit the shrine in the next nine days.
Since most of the devotees who visit the shrine will be fasting, there is a special provision of clean drinking water inside the temple. The toilet blocks have been cleaned thoroughly. Also, the temple administration has set up a stall for the medical help to visitors and additional safai karamcharis have also been deputed at the shrine for the Nine days of Navratri.
