Bawe Wali Mata temple: Scuffle after Pujaris ‘beat up’ a devotee over extra ‘mauli’

Bawe Wali mata temple has been witnesses huge rush of people during Navratras. People offer prayers to the holy diety and fast during these nine days with faith. The Bawe temple popularly known as ‘Bahu Fort, is a prime tourist attraction of Jammu. Vaishno Devi pilgrims offer prayer at the holy temple before heading to Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.
But yesterday, an incident of beating by Pujaris came into the limelight. Ashwani Sharma S/O Sh. Suraj Parkash Sharma R/O H. No. 437, Purani Mandi Jammu, who had gone to the temple to seek blessings was allegedly ‘beaten up’ by the Pujaris.
Ashwani said, that the pujaris inside the Shrine of Mata Maha Kali ( Bawe Wali) started thrashing him on demand of tying extra Moli “Maa Suraksha Sutar”.
“The pujaris gathered and started beating me badly.”, alleged Ashwini. Ashwani had come to temple to seek Mata Rani’s blessings along with his family and a baby in his hand. “The Pujaris only entertain the rich people and act rudely with others”, he added.
While on the other hand, the pujaris said that the said person and his family was misbehaving with the Pujaris and namecalling him, upon which the Pujaris ended up in a scuffle with this man.
The man is looking to file an FIR against the temple priests if the Head Priest, Mahant Bitta doesn’t take action against the Pujaris.
