‘Bid to Draw Double Salary’ : Official of J&K Education department suspended
Accused tried to claim double salary through forged documents
Education department has initiated an inquiry against a senior assistant working in the office of CEO, Rajouri on adjustment basis for his an alleged attempt to draw salary from two places i.e from his original place of posting and as a surplus senior assistant at the office CEO.
The District Education Planning Officer, Rajouri, on the directions of Director, School Education, Jammu, has placed under suspension a senior assistant of the Chief Education Officer (CEO) for misleading the Directorate of School Education.
Shabir Ahmed Malik, a senior assistant posted at the Higher Secondary School in Panihad under the Peeri education zone, was attached at the office of the CEO.
There was no post of senior assistant at the CEO office and Malik was sent only on internal adjustment to extend help in official work. He was withdrawing salary from the school at Panihad for the last more than a year.
“Recently, Malik, in order to withdraw double salary from the school as well as from the CEO office, approached the office of the Directorate of School Education and submitted fabricated documents claiming he is a surplus at the CEO office,” sources said.
The sources said on Malik’s representation, senior officials at the directorate office reportedly directed the CEO, Rajouri, to direct the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Peeri, to provide Malik the salary against the post of senior assistant at the ZEO’s office.
Surprised over the matter, officials at CEO office informed the higher authorities that Malik was already getting salary from the Panihad school.
Acting promptly, the Director, School Education, Jammu, directed the Rajouri CEO to suspend Malik and initiate an inquiry into the matter. Malik has been chargesheeted and given three days to furnish an explanation through the District Development Officer concerned.
