A team of BJP leaders visited border areas, including Arnia and Sugahpur, which have been badly affected by Pak firing. This team was led by BJP State Vice-President Ramesh Arora (Adv.), alongwith Ex-Servicemen Cell Convenor Brig. Anil Gupta, State Office Secretary Rajinder Sharma, MLA Ashwani Sharma and other leaders.

The team visited different houses damaged in Pak firing and also met the families of the persons killed and injured.

Ramesh Arora while expressing sympathies with the bereaved families and condoling the deaths of their near and dear ones, said that Pakistan army has been indulging in unprovoked firing thus violating all norms by resorting shelling at civilian population. Pakistan has been taking our hand of friendship as weakness on our part but now enough is enough and we cannot sit as mute spectators on the deaths and destructions caused by our neighbor. He said that India wants to live as good neighbor with Pakistan and even Atal Behari Vajpayee, while travelling to Pakistan by bus, had declared that we can change our friends but not neighbors. Such a gesture on part of the then Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee was a clear commitment that India wanted peace and friendly relations with Pakistan. Unfortunately, Pakistan did not keep its promise on cease-fire and every now and then indulge in violations.

Arora said that it is time when our forces should retaliate strongly to send a strong message to Pakistan, he further said that people of border areas are brave enough and are ready to face any consequence but wanted that Pak forces should not be spared for killing innocent.

Arora stated that state government have failed to provide land / alternative accommodation to Jammu based people residing in border areas due to their wrong policies. He also demanded ex-gratia compensation to the families of the victims of firing.

Arora demanded ex-gratia relief of Rs. 10 lack to next kin of deceased killed due to shelling and Rs. 2 lakh to each injured, permanent govt. job and 5 marla plot as temporary measure for the person residing in border area.

MLA Ashwani Sharma demanded stern action against Pakistan and relief and rehabilitation of all displaced.

Brig. Anil Gupta said it is high time to attack vital installation of Pakistan army to stop killing of innocent persons as a strategically measure, damaged office and shops be compensated properly.
