BJP must challenge HC pertaining to Sadr-e-riyasat, state flag
Upset with the state high court decision which held that changing of nomenclatures from Sadar-e-Riyasat to Governor was inconstitutional the BJP is likely to press the PDP to challenge the high court order as it is conflict with party ideology. The saffron party is worried about the political implications of the court decision and as such is likely to consult the CM to challenge the HC order in the Supreme Court.
The party is likely to hold a discussion with legal stalwarts including finance minister Arun Jaitley who has expertize in constitutional matters pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir. Jaitley in the past has taken tough stand on article 370 and related matters though his party is now part of the government.
State BJP is now planning to brief Jaitley on the entire issue, and ask him to find a way out of the quagmire as the HC judgement could have wider political ramification for the party.
Since it’s inception the party has been opposed to the concept of two flags and two constitutions. However the party has.increasingly being questioned over diluting it’s ideology after coming to power and forming an alliance with PDP. Opposition Congress and NC have already upped the ante and they are now likely to target the BJP over this issue in next couple of months.
