Bodies of KAS officer, trekker airlifted from Kolahoi Glacier
The bodies of two trekkers, including a young KAS officer on Sunday were retrieved and airlifted to Srinagar from the Kolahoi Glacier, two days after the tragic accident.
An air force chopper lifted the bodies of Excise and Taxation Officer Naveed Jeelani and Adil Shah of Alpine Group from Pahalgam early this morning, Director of Disaster Management, Aamir Ali, told local News Paper.
Jeelani and Adil Shah were killed while another trekker Hazik was injured when the trio fell in the crevice at the 4,500-meter-high Kolahoi Glacier on Friday.
Later, a rescue operation was launched by police, SDRF and local volunteers to retrieve the bodies. On Saturday, Air Force was pressed into service by the administration.
Naveed Jeelani was an alumnus of NIT Srinagar and a Kashmir Administrative officer of the 2015 batch.
Adil Shah, a BTech graduate from Islamic University of Science and Techonology, Awantipora, was working with the Alpine Group, a trekking planner operating from Srinagar.
