Boy loses eyesight after teacher accidently hit him with a stick; family demands compensation

Baramullah: A promising 8th class student Mohammad Nadeem Sheikh’s dreams have been shattered after losing eyesight in 2011 in his school in Tithmullah Kalan, zone Chandanwadi Boniyar, Baramulla.

The horrific incident happened in 2011 when two students were fighting with each other inside a classroom in a rented building.

When an in-charge teacher saw the boys fighting, he instead of separating the two threw a  stick towards the boys.

The stick unfortunately hit Nadeem who was sitting behind the fighting boys.

He has lost his one eye and the credit goes to his teacher, said Nadeems father.

He said, “On March 15, 2016, Nadeem lost his second eye when  a teacher was checking his homework, he bent down and an iron rod pierced his other eye.”

We appealed government several times to help us but they didn’t.

Now we appeal director school education Shah Faesal to help us and safeguard the future of Nadeem who wants to be a teacher.

We will provide him a separate teacher,  ZEO of the zone said.
