Civil Services is one of the most prestigious exam of the country. Every year lakhs of students appear for it but only a thousand make it to the list. Few of those bright ones hail from our city too. Vinay Kumar Langeh and Sahil Sarangal from Jammu have pulled it off.
Vinay Langeh secured 477th rank while Sahil got 1025th position. Vinay, who lives near Bagh-e-Bahu area, graduated from NIT Srinagar in the year 2011 as a Computer Science Engineer. He went on to work in private sector for about 18 months in Gurgaon. It was during his job that he realized his inclination towards serving his nation and that’s when he decided to quit his job and start preparing for the Civil Services exam.
He had attempted the exam twice before cracking it finally the third time. After the unsuccessful two attempts, he was never disappointed but it only made his will stronger. Family support played an integral part of his success. He wishes to serve J&K and hopes of getting the same as his cadre.
Sahil on the other hand is a graduate from GCET Jammu in the Electronics and Communication branch. Working for the past four years, and having given three previous attempts, Sahil grabbed the victory the fourth time. He attributed hard work the sole credit for his achievement.
According to Sahil, he prepared for the exam without any help and it was his parent’s persuasion and support that helped him achieve his target.
Bilawal Shafiq who hails from Tral Village has cleared the Civil Services Exam and got 1019th rank. Bilawal is the nephew of the State CAPD Minister Chowdary Zulfikar. Having acquired this milestone, Bilawal wants to serve the general population. His paternal grandmother wished for him to be an IAS officer but she passed away before she could hear the news of her grandson becoming one.
According to Bilawal, his cousin who is already an IAS officer and is presently serving in Udhampur, guided him while he was preparing.
