Jammu, July 14: Heavy rainfall on 12 July 2015 in Rajouri resulted in Sixty feet road formation being washed off on the National Highway between Rajouri and Poonch. Reacting immediately to a critical and worsening situation 31 Task Force of Project Sampark swung into action within hours of disaster. Heavy bridging stores were rushed to the bridge site immediately under the supervision of Chief Engineer Project Sampark. Braving heavy rains and ongoing landslides in the sector the manpower of BRO commenced construction of the bridge on 13 July 2015 under the supervision of Commander, 31 Task Force. Working throughout the day and late into the night the BRO men completed the construction of 80 feet Double Single Reinforced Bailey Bridge on 14 July 2015. Assistance in the form of supervisory staff for construction was given by the Army Engineers thus displaying good synergy between the two organisations. The Bridge construction was completed in 36 Hrs under heavy rains with roads in the sector blocked due to landslides. Besides restoring the line of communication to Poonch, this bridge construction has facilitated the pilgrimage to the Buddha Amarnath shrine.
