BSF and Pak Rangers exchange Chaddar, Sharbat & Shakkar at Baba Chamliyal Mela

On 23June 2016 annual fair of Saint Dilip Singh Manhas populary known as Baba Chamliyal was celebrated with full fervor and joviality at BOP Chamliyal in Ramgarh Sector District Samba. Pakistan delegation consisting eight officers of Pak Rangers and seven official of civil administrative led by Sector Cdr Brigadier  Wasim Jaffar Bhatti to participated in the meeting. The Indian delegation consisted 08  BSF officers and 08 officers from civil administration with eminent citizen of area. The delegation was led by Sh B S Kasana, DIG BSF Jammu from BSF and Ms Sheetal  Nanda IAS/District Majistrate Samba and Mr Ashkur Ahmed Wani, IPS DIG Jammu Kathua Range.

Pak delegation was received at zero line by Commandant BSF in force tradition by  presenting a guard of honour to Sector Cdr Pak Rangers. During the meeting, pleasantries and greetings were exchanged by both side delegates and thereafter mementos were presented to all members of delegation to each other from the both sides. Sector Cdr Pak Rangers handed over a beautifully decorated ‘Chaddar’ for Mazar of Baba to Sh B S Kasana, DIG BSF Jammu as customary and in return BSF officials along with other officers handed over “Shakkar and Sharbat” to Pak Rangers for further distribution to devotees in Pakistan.Baba Chamliyal Mela (4)

During the meeting both sides assured each other to maintain peace and tranquility in the border area. The meeting was concluded in a very cordial and happy atmosphere.

The Mela was well attended by BSF, civil and Police officials and thousands of devotees paid their obeisance at Mela. Large numbers of people of Pakistan have shown their enthusiastic presence across the zero line to have a glimpses of “Baba”. As intimated by Pakistan Rangers equal no of devotees are also present and eagerly waiting in their side of village to celebrate on reaching of Prasad i e Shakkar and Sharbat of Baba.
