Srinagar, January 19: With an aim to increase customer base in Jammu and improve the services being provided here, the largest cellular service provider of India Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced 80 percent reduction in existing call rates and has guaranteed one day activation of newly acquired sim cards.
While talking to media on Monday, the Deputy General Manager of BSNL, Mohammad Saleem Beg said that the voice call rates will be reduced upto 80 percent in the per second and per-minute plan of all existing BSNL pre-paid mobile customers. This will be applicable with a recharge through special tariff vouchers of Rs 42 for per second plan and Rs 88 for per minute plan.
He added that the reduction in call rates will be effective from January 16, 2016 onwards across all telecom circles.
Talking about one day activation of new sim cards, Beg said that the instruction has been issued to our staff to activate the sim-card on the same day of it being bought.
The DGM also answered the question asked by reporters regarding poor broadband internet services in the state. He said that the company had acted upon the complaints “instantly”. A total of 125 new state-of-art base transceiver station (BTS) would be added by the end of March which is going to strengthen the network of internet services being provided by BSNL. Besides, the cable has been suffering damage due to construction works and road repairs which are being repaired.
He added that by the month of March, 125 new 3G towers will be installed in Jammu and the customers under ‘WiFi hotspot’ project would get speed up to 1500 mbps.
He also informed people can register complaints by just dialing 198 on landline and assured that their defunct connections wwould be restored with in 24 hours.
