Budget Session 2016-17: Drabu leaving no stone unturned
Jammu, December 15: With just a month left in the commencement of this year’s budget session in the state legislative assembly, the Jammu and Kashmir state government departments have started preparations on full swing.
Sources in Jammu and Kashmir Planning and Development department (JKP&DD) say that like last few years, the budget session is going to affect the working of state government this year also. The session will commence on January 18 with an introductory speech of Governor of the State, N.N. Vohra and the most awaited event will be the State’s Finance Minister presenting Budget for the year 2016-17.
The government is left with just a month for holding pre-budget meetings to finalize plans which are going to affect state government functioning in a big way for the rest of the year.
Pertinently, last year, the state government presented the budget in hurry since the government was formed on March 1st and the budget session started on March 18.
However this year, the Finance Minster of the State Dr. Haseeb Drabu wants to leave no stone unturned before presenting budget in the State Legislative Assembly. Sources say that he has planned to meet the chamber of commerce, several traders of the state, representatives of farmers and educationist before finalizing this year’s budget.
The ministry has also asked for suggestion from various government departments, reported the sources.
