‘Govt working towards rehabilitation of flood-affected’

BUDGAM, JUNE 24: Minister for Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs and Relief & Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari, in presence of Minister for Agriculture Production, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura Wednesday distributed relief cheques worth Rs 8.24 crore from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund among the flood affected traders and destitute of district Budgam.
MLC Saif-u-Din Bhat, Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, Mir Altaf Ahmad, SSP Budgam, Fayaz Ahmad, Commandant 53 RR and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
To alleviate sufferings of flood victims, cheques were distributed among 1877 beneficiaries including 270 destitute.
Addressing a largely attended gathering on the occasion, the Law Minister reiterated that the Government under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed was committed towards rehabilitation of the people who were affected in the devastating September -2014 floods, adding that earnest efforts are being made in this regard.
Also speaking on the occasion, the Agriculture Minister underscored that Government is aware of the difficulties being faced by the people and will take the necessary measures to help them come out of it.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Budgam, informed that a relief to the tune of Rs 18.25 Cr has already been released in favour of the flood affected victims of District Budgam.
