SRINAGAR, MAY 04: In order to curb the traffic jamming and streamlining the traffic management system in Srinagar city, the Minister for R&B and Floriculture, Syed Altaf Ahmad Bukhari visited various traffic jamming prone areas of City and took stock of measures taken for smooth ply of traffic. He directed the SMC authorities for immediate removal of bottlenecks and hurdles so that traffic jamming would be easily curbed.
During the visit, the Minister was accompanied by the officers of Divisional and District Administration.
Bukhari visited Batmaloo and directed Srinagar Municipal authorities for removal of the boundary walls of dewatering station so that road is widened. The Minister also visited Bishambir Nagar road in Srinagar city and instructed the authorities to take immediate steps for removal of encroachment within days. He visited Dalgate and instructed the Executive Engineer R&B Srinagar for construction of protection Bund on the bank of Dalgate road.
The Minister also directed the Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation for lifting the debris of dismantled private building so that the roads would be cleared for smooth vehicular movement.
Earlier, the Minister convened a meeting of officers at Banquet Hall Srinagar and reviewed the traffic management plan framed by Srinagar Development Authority. On this occasion, the Minister was apprised by the Srinagar Development Authority about traffic management programme through a PowerPoint presentation.
During the meeting the authorities of R&B, Traffic Police and Srinagar Municipal Corporation put forth their suggestions regarding curbing traffic jamming and streamlining of traffic in city.
The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Gazanfar Hussain, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, Vice Chairman Srinagar Development Authority, Mohammad Saleem Sheshgari, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Tufail Mattoo, Senior Superintendent of Police Traffic Srinagar, Haseeb-ur-Rehman, Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar, Amit Kumar, Executive Engineer PWD, Chief Town Planner Srinagar and other officers.
