Bulandshahr violence: CM Yogi meets family of slain cop Subodh Singh, promises justice

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Thursday met family of slain cop Subodh Singh in his Lucknow residence. Singh was killed when a group of cow vigilantes turned violent on Monday after rumours of cow meat found led to heightened tension.

Yogi Adityanath met the family and spoke with them privately for some time. Later UP DGP said that Yogi has promised the deceased cops family that justice will be done and the guilty will be punished. UP CM has also ordered a high level probe in the incident.

Following the gruesome incident, Adityanath had announced a compensation of Rs 40 lakh for Singh’s wife, Rs 10 lakh for his parents and a government job for a member of his family.

On December 3, Subodh Kumar was killed in the violence, which took place after the carcasses of 25 cattle were found in the forests close to a police post, with the locals alleging that those carcasses were of the cows, which were slaughtered illegally.

A local youth was also killed in the violence. According to sources, the post-mortem examination conducted on Subodh Kumar confirmed gunshot injury by a .32 mm bore bullet on his head.

Till now, four people have been arrested in connection with the killing of the police officer.

“Law and order is usually good here but the police were kept in dark about the Islamic congregation that happened here, which caused chaos. This is the cause of this violence,” said Bhola Singh, Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Bulandshahr.
