The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Jammu, the state’s one of the largest association of traders and businessmen, would witness a straight contest on five out of a total six posts, including coveted post of president, elections for which are scheduled to be held on June 21.
There would be a triangular contest for the post of secretary general. There are as many as 2,138 members from various market associations who would cast their votes to elect the new body of the CCI Jammu.
According to the Election Committee, only two candidates, Parveen Kumar Gupta and Rakesh Gupta are in fray for the post of president.
The voting would start after the annual general body meeting of the chamber and it would continue till 5 pm. The counting would be done soon after voting was over.
There would be a straight contest for the posts of senior vice-president and junior vice-president. Two candidates, Sham Lal Langer and Surinder Mahajan, are trying their luck for the post of senior vice-president, while Bharat Bhushan Gupta and Deepak Aggarwal are contesting for the post of junior vice-president.
There would be a triangular contest for the post of secretary general. Three candidates, namely Anil Gupta, Arun Gupta and Manish Gupta, would be contesting for this prestigious post.
There were three candidates, Ashu Gupta, Narinder Gupta and Rakesh Jandial for the post of Treasurer.Treasurer. Narinder Gupta has withdrew his nomination in favour of another candidate Ashu Gupta. Two candidates, Rahul Mahajan and Rajesh Gupta are contesting for the post of secretary.
There are 2,138 members who would elect the new office bearers of the CCI, Jammu.
