CCI sums up the ‘burning’ issues being faced by Jammuites in an ‘eye-opening’ letter to Dy. CM Nirmal Singh. Read Here.

The Office bearers of Chamber of Commerce & Industry met today at Chamber House under the Presidentship of Sh. Rakesh Gupta to discuss some major burning issues regarding overall development of Jammu region and after serious deliberations an urgent communication was sent to Dr. Nirmal Singh, Hon’ble Dy. Chief Minister J&K State which reads as under:-

This is to bring into your kind notice that Chamber of Commerce & Industry Jammu had great expectations from the present coalition government as far as the power sector, Master Plan and overall development of Jammu is concerned but today we feel that there is no accountability of either any officers or the minister at the helm of affairs. We would like to bring some major burning issues for your kind considerations and urgent action as below

Even after spending thousands of crores through IRCON the power crises and unscheduled power cuts that too in peak summers  have made the life of common man miserable as also the traders and the industrialists have to spend more on Gensets and other such gadgets which also lead to polluting the  air  in Jammu province.

That the Chamber of Commerce & Industry and every common citizen of Jammu had excepted some relief by through new Master Plan which could come up as per the practical requirements of the present scenario but nothing such happened leading to notices off and on to the people regarding the construction of houses or business establishments that happened in the past. It is pertinent to note that these constructions did not come up over night but these works were carried out with the knowledge of the concerned enforcing agencies of the government. The Chamber of Commerce & Industry had expected that the land use of such areas where huge commercial establishment are operating be changed to commercial which never happened as also the housing and Jammu Development Authorities miserably failed to come up with any such commercial outlets so that the new entrepreneurs could start their business.

That there are ample places for providing parking facilities in almost all localities throughout Jammu but we see that only most of the projects sanctioned by the previous governments   are being carried out and no major initiative has been taken under your leadership.

That every citizen of Jammu feels anguished over shelving the prestigious artificial lake project on river Tawi, the DPR and funding of which was sanctioned by the Union Ministry.

That Chamber of Commerce & Industry expresses serious concern over the slow pace for creation of AIIMS that was sanctioned  long time back and because of this slow pace the health care is suffering badly in Jammu.

That we have been made to understand that Chamber’s demand of Parade by BSF at Suchetgarh on the pattern of Wagha on our side of border has been sanctioned by the Union Ministry, but we see nothing happening towards the development of infrastructure at Suchetgarh as this project could attract thousands of tourists for border tourism.

That we question the departments like Housing and Jammu Development Authority towards creating new residential colonies which are need of the hour because of souring prices of land and their inefficiency to do so.

The Chamber of Commerce & Industry demands that the government must announce a specific deadline for completion of ongoing developmental projects like artificial lake over river tawi, development of river Tawi on the pattern of Sabarmati, the restoration works of Mubarak Mandi, the Gandola Project in Jammu and Patnitop and also fix the responsibility and accountability measures on the departments who are undertaking these prestigious projects. We also demand that the religious circuit of Mata Vaishno Devi, Shahdra Sharief, Nangali Sahib and Budha Amarnath in Jammu province be promoted through special Ad campaign and proper infrastructure be created for the facilities of the pilgrim tourists.
