Jammu and Kashmir News
The long pending demand of West Pak Refugees to allow them to participate in recruitment rallies of the Central forces has been approved by the Centre. The demand was unapproved so far because they didn’t have domicile certificates and permanent resident certificates but now the Centre has now agreed to consider Sarpanch’s certificate as domicile proof.
West Pakistan Refugees can now participate in recruitment rallies of the Army and Paramilitary forces without domicile certificates. The Union Government has directed the Central forces to allow WPR youth to participate in recruitment rallies on the basis of certificates issued by the sarpanch of lambardar of their respective villages.
Before militancy erupted in Jammu and Kashmir, WPR were issued domicile certificates but for the last two decades they haven’t been issued this certificate. Due to this, the WPR youth were not even allowed to participate in any recruitment rally. They weren’t entitled to PRCs and hence were denied of jobs in state government departments. This had been their long pending demand that they should be allowed to take part in recruitment rallies of the central security forces.
Rajya Sabha member and BJP leader Avinash Rai Khanna who had been fighting for the cause for a long time said that the Centre has now agreed to treat the sarpanch or lambardar certificate as a valid document as a substitute to a domicile certificate so that the refugee youth can be allowed to participate in the recruitment rallies.
For the last few weeks, the leaders of the West Pak Refugees have been struggling hard to get some relief to become eligible for the recruitment rallies. Last month, a WPR delegation met PM Modi to seek his intervention in the matter. Khanna added that more concessions will be announced for the Wet Pak Refugees to end their struggle.
