CEO order exposes political interference in School Education Deptt in J&K

JAMMU : Too much political interference is severely affecting the functioning of School Education Department where the standard of education is deteriorating day by day with the consequent decease in the percentage of students passing out.

There has been no let up in the political interference, particularly by the MLAs and MLCs in getting their favourites posted at desired schools at the cost of others.

A recent order by the Chief Education Officer, Doda has exposed this political interference.

The order has been issued for revoking the recent transfers of some teachers, which were made on the recommendations of local leaders, including MLAs and MLCs.

The significant order has also mentioned the names of those politicians and even some bureaucrats, who had recommended for transfer of these teachers for the reasons best known to the concerned quarters.

Interestingly, one of these teachers was transferred on the recommendation of the Minister of State for School Education while Director School Education had also recommended two names.

Three others were transferred on the recommendation of PDP leader Mehboob Iqbal, two on the recommendations of MLA Bhaderwah, Daleep Parihar and another on the recommendation of Commissioner Secretary Shafiq Ahmad Raina.

One of such transfers was affected even on the recommendation of Chief Engineer R&B, Niaz Ahmad Banday.

According to the sources, these transfers were only a tip of the iceberg and hundreds of teachers are being shifted on the recommendations of politicians and bureaucrats, whose own children are studying in private schools.
