CHAIRMAN, MIER INDUCTS THE 6th BATCH OF M.ED
The sixth batch of M.Ed was given a formal welcome in an impressive function at the MIER campus. The Chief Guest of the function was Dr. Arun K. Gupta, noted educationist and Chairman MIER Group of Institutions. Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER, Dr. Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER, Dr. B.L. Raina, HOD M.Ed Wing, Dr. H.R. Shan, Head Research Wing, Dr. Annie Koul, HOD B.Ed General, Ms. Rohnika Sharma, HOD, B.Ed Special Education, along with the faculty of M. Ed department.
The function started on an auspicious note with the students presenting an inspiring prayer. Dr. B.L Raina extended a very warm welcome to the chief guest and the new students and acquainted the new students with the facilities and accomplishments of the college. The students were also informed about the activities, responsibilities and expectations of the PG Department. Dr. Raina advised the new batch to take advantage of the teaching learning environment offered by the college which is top class. He wished them all the best in their learning endeavour.
Dr. Renu Gupta also shared her views and thoughts with the new batch. She added that the college has excellent infrastructural facilities and expert faculty and the students should make optimum utilization of these.
Chairman, Dr. Arun K. Gupta welcomed the students to the MIER family of over 50000 persons who have received education for over 78 years. He said that he has high expectations from the fresh batch of students and was looking forward to a dynamic department. He said that higher education is a cooperative endeavor where students and teachers have to contribute to each other’s growth. He informed the audience that the college is proud to earn the distinction of being the first college in the state which has been conferred with autonomous status by the University and this new development will benefit the students immensely. He further observed that the world of education is changing and learning today should go beyond the realms of textbooks and syllabus. Dr. Gupta also touched some of the burning issues of today’s education system and exhorted the students to be role models and ideal teacher educators. He also dwelt upon some innovative practices which had been planned for the M.Ed students this year.
A formal vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. H.R. Shan. This was followed by an informal introduction by the batch of M Ed. Students over a cup of tea. The programme was ably conducted by Dr. Nishta Rana along with Ms. Dimple Sharma.
