SRINAGAR: General Bikram Singh, Chief of the Army Staff, accompanied by Lt. General D.S. Hooda, Army Commander, Northern Command, and Lt. Gen. Subrata Saha, GOC, 15 Corps, met Mr. N.N Vohra, Governor, here at the Raj Bhavan today.
The Governor and the Army Chief discussed various important matters relating to the extremely important role being played by the Northern Army in safeguarding the territorial integrity and the internal security of each of the three regions of the State. The Governor, who has known the Chief since the time the latter served as the GOC XV Corps, complimented Gen. Bikram Singh and all officers and men of the Northern Army for their exemplary devotion in enforcing a close and constant vigil along the two militarized frontiers of J&K, one of which is being perpetually transgressed.
The Army Chief is on a farewell visit to the Northern Command. The Governor wished General and Mrs. Bikram Singh good health and happiness in the coming time.
