SRINAGAR | MAR 17 (PTK): Clashes erupted after congregational Friday prayers in Kupwara and Sopore town today.

Reports said that youth took to streets in both of the towns of north Kashmir and tried to take out the rally to protest the killing of a minor girl of Kaneeza near the encounter. However, police and paramilitary personnel deployed in the area prevented them from taking out the protest rally, triggering clashes in the area.

While the youth hurled stone on the security forces, the forces responded by bursting teargas shells. Reports said that the police also arrested two youths in Kupwara during the clashes. However no reports of injuries have been received in any of the town. Pertinently the joint resistance leadership had called for peaceful protests today against the killing of a minor girl after the Friday Paryers. (PTK)
