A Class 10 student allegedly slit the throat of his elder sister’s boyfriend after he claimed to have caught the lovebirds in a comprising position in southwest Bihar’s Kaimur district on Thursday night.
The boy, 15, then walked to the Town police station at Bhabua, headquarters of Kaimur district, 180 km southwest of Patna, confessed to the crime and surrendered.
In his confessional statement to the police, the boy claimed that he slit the throat of Sonu Noniyan, 22, when the latter was playing cards at a pump house on the outskirts of the town on Thursday night, the police said.
Before coming to the police station, the accused reportedly threw the dagger, used in the crime, in a paddy field.
Quoting the minor, the police said, the boy’s family was residing as tenants in the house of Noniyan’s maternal grandfather at Akhalaspur locality of the town. “Noniyan, who was staying with his grandfather, and my sister were in a relationship.
Noniyan would threaten to evict my family whenever we objected to their love affair,” the boy told the police.
“On Wednesday, the boy caught his sister and Noniyan in a compromising position and informed his parents. After the scuffle that ensued, Noniyan’s family forcibly got the tenants evicted. When the relationship become public, the boy decided to kill Noniyan,” the police said.
Kaimur superintendent of police (SP) Harpreet Kaur said the accused had been arrested. “Victim’s maternal grandfather, Mahangu Noniyan, has lodged a murder case against the boy, his parents and two others – Chinti Gond and Shekhar Noniyan – who were playing cards with Sonu Noniyan on the fateful evening. The police are searching the paddy field for the dagger reportedly used in the crime,” she said.
