Class XI boy commits suicide after Principal asks to meet parents
Jammu, November 24: A class XI commerce student of Dewan Devi School in Shakti Nagar, Aman Sharma committed suicide yesterday evening at his residence after the Principal of the school called his mother to school over his proposing a classmate.
From initial investigations, it has come to fore that Aman Sharma had asked out a girl from the Arts Section. Supposedly, Aman Sharma’s proposal did not go down well with the girl, who in turn spoke to her parents about it. The parents suggested to the girl to bring the event to the notice of the school authorities.

The principal called Aman and after advising him over the matter, asked him to call his mother to school for a conversation. Aman’s father had passed away a few years ago and was the only son.
In the afternoon when the school got over, Aman went to his residence and locked himself up in a room on the terrace of the house. After not seeing him for an unusually long time, his family members started looking for him for hours to finally find him hanging in the room on roof-top.

SHO, Bakhsni Nagar Police station, Ashwani Sharma said, “We have visited the school and spoken to the teachers and the same version has come up. There is no record of torture by the Principal of the school.”
Sharma further said, “His classmates were not available in the school and we are yet to record their statements. At this stage, it seems that the boy did not handle the pressure of calling his mother to school well. There could also be the shame associated with the mocking by friends about the event.”
