The act of cleanliness can be an economic activity, contributing to GDP, reducing healthcare costs and also a source of employment. This was the observation of BJP State General Secretary and MLA Kathua, Rajiv Jasrotia while initiating Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Kathua.Seeking cooperation from all to make Abhiyan a grand success, Jasrotia said like we keep our own houses clean one should be careful about streets, lanes, parks or other public places.
We should be proud that Government has associated the Abhiyan with Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi as he was a great champion of the cleanliness cause in the country and throughout his life was involved in activities related to sanitation and hygiene, he added.
Jasrotia called upon students from schools, colleges, universities, and other educational institutions to become part of this Abhiyan. Youths of the state involving in the daily routine job and other business activities should also participate in the event so that their future could be made healthy. He encouraged common public to do get involved in the campaign very actively by picking up the broom in their hand and clean all the dirty places in their surroundings to make them clean and neat.
It should be our aim to connect as many people as possible with the mission to create a mass movement for fulfilling Gandhiji’s clean India dream by 2019.Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is not just about cleaning surroundings but also seeking the participation of people in planting tree, creating trash-free environment, providing sanitation facilities and paving a way for Swachh Bharat eventually.
Giving significance of Abhiyan, Jasrotia said Clean India is of utmost importance for promoting the state as an ideal destination for tourists from across the world. Images of unclean state often become a matter of embarrassment for us therefore this is the right time and opportunity to participate towards Swachh state. This campaign will not only help citizens adopt good habits of cleanliness but also boost our image as a nation, sincerely working towards cleanliness. This will bring about an improvement in the general quality of life in the rural areas, by promoting cleanliness, hygiene and eliminating open defecation, he maintained.
