SRINAGAR, JULY 05: Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti has greeted people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, wishing them well-being and prosperity.
In her message of felicitation, Ms Mehbooba reminded the people about the essence of the festival, especially remembering the poor and needy and sharing happiness with them. She, however, said it was a distressing day for the whole Muslim Ummah as their holiest place Madina Munnawarah was attacked by a suicide bomber last night triggering outrage and agony throughout the Islamic world.
The Chief Minister said the spirit behind observance of Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadhan, is to express our gratitude to the Almighty Allah for giving us courage to observe fasts and rededicate ourselves to truthfulness, sincerity, self-control, patience and piety, thus showing complete obedience to Allah.
She expressed the hope that this auspicious occasion will strengthen the bonds of communal harmony and bring peace, prosperity and well-being to the State and the people all over the world. “People of J&K have time and again demonstrated their strong belief in mutual co-existence, which is the essence of state’s unique multiculturalism and we would continue to uphold those unique values,” she said.
The Chief Minister asked the divisional administrations to ensure that all facilities are provided to the people especially on account of transportation, water supply and electricity during the festival. She also asked the management of J&K Wakaf Board to provide required facilities at Assar-e-Sharief Hazratbal, and other Khanqahs and Masjids, which are thronged by devotees in large numbers for Eid prayers.
