Making an emotional pitch to voters to support  Congress in the ongoing Assembly polls, Congress candidate from Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori today said that his party was fighting against divisive and exploitive forces, which are hell bent to destroy love and harmony. Saroori held series of unprecedented and impressive road shows cum Public addresses at Bhatyas, Bhamboo, Bathri, Khara, Thathri, Mugalmiadan, Chatroo, Lass in Inderwal Assembly segment where people gave him rousing receptions and pledged to make him win with thumping majority.

At Thathri, Leader of Opposition (LOP) in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad was the star campaigner who seeked mandate of the people to accelerate developmental activities in remotest and far-flung areas. He said that Congress was committed to counter and defeat divisive forces tooth and nail and would always work for development of Jammu and Kashmir irrespective of any caste, colour or religion.

Claiming that there is no Modi wave in J&K, Azad said that Congress party would win 12 seats out of 15 in the first phase of elections. Urging the people of the Inderwal constituency to vote decisively in favour of the Congress candidate G M Saroori, Azad said that Congress-led coalition government between 2006-08 gave a new paradigm of development and governance to the state which was characterised by all-round and equitable development, efficiency, transparency and people-friendly image.

In his address, Saroori reminded the people about various developmental projects which he has started for the development of this Assembly constituency. “Many projects are still incomplete”, he said and sought vote & support of the people to finish the incomplete projects to improve their socio-economic conditions.

Saroori said that Congress party is going to win Inderwal assembly constituency with a record margin and all candidates of other parties including NC, PDP and BJP shall forfeit their deposits. All these political parties are either run as stopping the developmental activities, family enterprises or as some religious joint. All religions are equally important and if preached rightly, lead us to the path towards almighty God. But few parties believes in using religion as a shortcut to reach corridors of power by precipitating emotions of people and getting our society polarised on the basis of caste and religion. J&K people are wise enough not to be swayed down by these opportunist politicians. They will definitely reject their dangerous agenda for division of our society and shall, only, choose path towards peace, development and prosperity.

He further said that Inderwal assembly constituency witnessed development during the past twelve years. Counting his achievements before the people Saroori said, “I have ensured that all the areas of my constituency are developed. During my tenure I got degree colleges in Chatroo and Thathri. Administrative units which include SDM office at Chatroo and Thathri, Tehsil offices, development blocks and nayabats and upgradation of healthcare units are for everyone to see.” Saroori said that upgradation of schools, establishment of new schools, road connectivity along with bridges and providing potable water to people was his priority during the past twelve years.

He also lambasts out at BJP & PDP and said that, “It is this, the very heart and soul of J&K that we are fighting to protect in this election, from those who seek to change it, and to divide us. We want unity. They want to impose uniformity. They (Prime Minister) say ‘just believe in me’. We say ‘believe in our intentions, in our achievements…a high rate of growth, inclusive development, and strong democratic institutions.”

Saroori also appealed to the voters of Inderwal constituency to come in large and cast their votes in favour of him (Ghulam Mohammad Saroori) .
