Congress leader tours flood affected areas of Sunderbani, Nowshera
Senior Congress leader Rajinder Sharma continued his tours to rain effected areas of Sunderbani and Nowshera and distributed relief among the flood affected people.
During his tour Sharma toured several villages and met Sarpanches and Panches who apprised him of the problems faced by the people affected by the flooding and landslides during the first week of September.
Sharma demanded that administration should take immediate steps to provide financial assistance to the people affected by the floods as winters are approaching and thousands of people in Jammu region have lost their homes.
He assured full support to the demands of the people that administration should not discriminate with anybody and worst affected population should be given priority in the relief distribution as several hundred families have lost their homes and other articles.
While expressing solidarity with the affected people assured to take up the matter at highest level so that they could also get relief material at par with other affected people. He urged the government to assess the damage caused in Sunderbani, Nowshera and its surrounding areas and distribute relief material on that basis.
Sharma listening to the grievances of the local people demanded distribution of free ration among the flood victims for six months and exhorted the district administration to direct the Patwaries to assess the overall loss of the crops, homes and the livestock so that prompt and adequate compensation is disbursed to the needy.
