Couple, Son dupe ‘Kitty Members’ of Crores of Rupees in Jammu

In another case of fraud in less than 20 days in Jammu, the Crime Branch has registered an FIR against three members of a family for allegedly duping people they knew personally. A case has been registered against Pinky Gupta alias Saroj Gupta, her husband Shiv Pratap Gupta and her son Bhaskar Gupta, all of whom belong to Rehari colony in Jammu.

A complaint was received in Crime Branch, Jammu from Smt. Neelam Malhotra Wife of Sh. K.K. Malhotra, Resident of 26-Patel Nagar Lane No. 1, Talab Tillo, Jammu and others. The complainants had alleged that trio had allured them and a big number of innocent persons under the pretext of providing handsome returns on the deposits of money. However, the trio fled after taking the money from them and other persons. The trio locked their residence and office thereby duping the Malhotras of their hard earned money to the tune of 45.00 Lacs INR  besides the Crores of rupees taken from other innocent persons.

During the course of enquiry, it has been found that accused Pinky Gupta alias Saroj Gupta, in connivance with her husband Shiv Pratap Gupta and son Bhasker Gupta used to make contacts with the people especially females through kitty parties and collect money promising huge interest rates and also to send the children of these parties abroad for higher studies.

In the process the Pinky Gupta collected Crores of Rupees from innocent persons and even issued advance cheques but after sometime she fled away along with her family. The cheques issued by her were dishonoured for lack of funds by the banks.

A case under sections 420, 406 and 120-B of the RPC was registered by Crime Branch, Jammu and further investigation has been taken up.
