Crossed Swords Division flags off trekking expedition to Roopkund, Uttarakhand

Jammu, Oct 31:  A 12 members Trekking Expedition of Crossed Swords Division to Roopkund   was flagged off from Pallanwala, today. The brave soldiers will be trekking along the treacherous but the adventurous route of approximately 212 Kilometers over a period of eleven days, from 02 November  2015 to 12 November  2015 along route Nautha-Dewal-Lohjang-Van-Bedni Bugyal and finally to Roopkund which is located at an altitude of 16000 feet in Uttarakhand.  Roopkund, also is locally known as ‘ The Mystery Lake’ which is a high altitude glacial lake located near the base of two Himalayan peaks of Trishul (7120m) and Nande Ghunti (6310m) in the Garhwal District. The place has attracted attention over the years because of hundreds of human skeletons, which are found at its edge and are visible when the snow melts.

The expedition is aimed towards inculcating the spirit of adventure and mental robustness of the troops and at the same time will provide them a platform to interact and promulgate the message of peace and harmony among the masses en-route.
