CRPF man hurt in accidental firing at PDP leader’s home in Kashmir


SRINAGAR: A paramilitary trooper was injured here on Thursday when he accidentally shot himself.

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper was injured in an accidental fire in the city’s outskirts in the morning, a police spokesman said. “Constable Devinder Singh of 44 Battalion of CRPF was injured in an accidental fire from his service weapon.”

The constable was posted as the guard at the residence of of state Youth services and sports and Information and Technology Minister Imran Ansari in Srinagar’s Qamrwari area. A CRPF man was injured Thursday when the service rifle of his colleague went off accidentally in Srinagar, sources said.

They said the men were posted on security duty at Dar-ul-Jawad residence of PDP leader and Information Technology minister Imran Ansari in Qamarwari area of the city when the mishap took place.


The constable was admitted to a city hospital.

However, sources said that Ansari and his family members are safe and that there was no need to panic.

CRPF man, they added, was hit by the bullet in his leg.
