Srinagar, May 13: CT Angiographic studies have been started at District Hospital Anantnag. Brain, Head & Neck, Pulmonary, Renal and Limb Angiographies are being performed as a routine now by the Radiology Unit of the hospital. Computed Tomography Angiography (also called CT Angiography or CTA) is a computed tomography technique used to visualize arterial and venous vessels throughout the body. This ranges from arteries serving the brain to those bringing blood to the lungs, kidneys, arms and legs. Earlier patients had to go to major city hospitals for these procedures but by availing such facility at Govt. District Hospital it has been a major boon to health care services at District level. Such advanced initiatives have helped to reduce referrals to tertiary hospitals and simultaneously saving the precious time to diagnose the ailment and provide prompt treatment plan.
Since the inauguration of CT Scan facility in march 2014 at District Hospital Anantnag, around 2900 CT Scans have been done till date. CT Scans of all body parts from head to toe are being conducted by the radiology unit of District Hospital Anantnag headed by Radiologist Dr Owais Hamid along with assistance of CT Technologists, Mr Mushtaq Ahmad Dar and Mr Masood Ahmad Qadri. CT Scans are being done round the clock for emergency (Accident and Stroke patients) cases at District Hospital Anantnag. Computerised CT Scan reports are being given to the patients also.
Procedures like CT guided drainage procedures, Biopsies and Percutaneous Nephrostomies will be shortly started at District Hospital Anantnag.
