Srinagar: J&K State Social Welfare Board in collaboration with J&K Mountaineering and Hiking Club (J&KMHC) organised three days orientation camp for Physically Challenged Persons. The camp was flagged off from Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Rajbagh by Director Social Welfare Department Kashmir, Gazanfar Ali in presence of Secretary Social Welfare Board Aamir Ali, Principal IHM Mr Srivastava. During the camp these persons with various physical disabilities got an opportunity to visit Rock Climbing Wall Nowgam where refreshments were provided by Hotel Silver Star and experts demonstrated the procedure for rock climbing. Out of 60 disabled persons, five attempted to climb the rock wall, despite their disabilities and two made it to the top, amidst cheers by the onlookers. President of J&KMHC Mehmood Ahmed Shah alongwith his office bearers arranged lunch for the participants at Zabarwan Park Srinagar. On the second day of their tour they visited Dachigam National Park where they were received and educated by Mr. Rauf Ahmed Zargar, Wild Life Warden along with his staff. The valedictory function was held at Gulmarg were they were received by Tehsildar Tangmarg, Mr. Abdul Rasheed at Gulmarg Golf Club. The participants were also accorded a rousing reception and lunch at Hotel Khyber Resorts & Spa, Gulmarg, by Mr. Umar Trumboo his entire staff including their General Manager Mr. Sujith Herbert. The participants also had a joy ride on Gandola Cable Car where they were assisted by the Gondola staff, so that they would not face any difficulty, as most of the participants were either on wheel chair or on crutches. It was a life time opportunity for most and they thoroughly enjoyed their visit. Certificates of participation were issued to them. They were assisted by Volunteers from J&KMHC and SWB.
