Samba: Deputy Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria, today inaugurated a stall of carry bags made of jute and cloth, non-synthetic bamboo products, glass water bottles and earthen pots at DC office complex Nandini Hills.
The creation of this facility in the complex is an endeavor to make the district free from plastic waste and promote alternative to plastic.
DDC exhorted upon the district officers to work in coordinated manner and put in their best efforts to fight against the menace of plastic products. He said the local population visiting DC office shall also be benefitted by the stall installed at the behest of department of Handicraft and Handloom Cooperative Societies. He said the products crafted by trainees of Handicraft training centres are on display here which can be used as a substitute for plastic bags.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Arvind Kotwal Additional Deputy Commissioner Vikas Gupta, Chief Planning Officer Sukhleen Kour, Assistant Commissioner Development Sidharath Dhiman General Manager DIC Sansar Chand, AD Handicraft Sonam Verma besides other officers were present on the occasion.
