Kishtwar, Oct 28: In a move that can ease the burden of official expenses on the state exchequer, the Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Ghulam Nabi Balwan, has ordered that official vehicles not be used by a government employee when he or she is on a leave from duty. A circular to this effect was recently issued.
The circular No. DDCK/Plg/Circular/12/ 2015-16/2681-2720 Dated 26-10-2015 impresses upon all the District/Sectoral Officers of District Kishtwar that his permission may be sought before leaving the headquarters. The circular further suggests stern disciplinary action against the erring officers.
“All the District/Sectoral Officers who while on leave will not use the official vehicle and ensure that the departmental vehicle be used only for the official purpose and official tours only,” read the circular.
The DC also directed all the officers to maintain tour diary and submit the same in his office so that things could be monitored/evaluate pertaining to their sectors properly.
The circular has been widely hailed by the Kishtwar civil Society. It has been found in the past in J&K that the officials misused their official vehicles for personal purposes including ferrying their children, family members, friends and even relatives during official timings at the cost of the state exchequer.
